When to bathe my animal?

17 Jul 2024

About the importance of the shower
We humans tend to end each tiring and exhausting day with a liberating and refreshing shower. A high-quality shower, however, not only helps us stay clean, but also helps us gain strength, relax and break free from the routine for a moment. However, the shower for our animals is seen as a little less friendly than for humans. Most animals do not enjoy taking a shower, make a mess, riot and sometimes even run away from it in the middle. However, it is important to make sure to bathe our four-legged friend according to his personal needs. In the end, each of our animals has different desires and different character traits and therefore, the frequency of the shower varies between the different animals.

Dog
Our dog likes to play, run wild and wallow in the mud, so it is not so surprising that in many cases there is simply no escape from bathing him. However, even an older dog that goes wild and gets less dirty also needs a shower. In general, it is recommended to bathe our dog every two months. Our beloved dog can be spayed already in his puppy days, but it is very important not to do this before he has received all the required vaccinations - this way we can avoid a case of a cold in a sweet little puppy with a weak immune system. It is important to shower with a shampoo that is suitable for dogs and customized for them.

cat
In the end, the cat is a fairly clean animal and it cleans itself by licking and grooming. Therefore, most cats do not need to be bathed frequently and there are cats that actually do not need a shower for their entire lives. However, a shower for our cat can be essential for some cats and just as important - it will relieve cat allergies that some people have at home. Be sure to give your cat a pleasant and calm shower and use a shampoo for cats that is adapted to their delicate skin.

Rabbit
Compared to the cat and the dog that can be bathed from time to time even in the absence of cooperation, when it comes to the rabbit the simple answer is that it is simply not allowed to be bathed. Rabbits are particularly sensitive to water and showering can cause them to enter into significant anxiety and hence to hysterical behavior that can lead to injuries and even death. In addition, rabbit fur is very difficult to dry, so even after the shower there is a significant danger. However, rabbits tend to clean themselves so there is really no need to clean them, except in cases where they have stopped grooming themselves or become very dirty.

Therefore, for the rabbits if there is a need for cleaning, you can perform a dry shower - brushing the fur, scattering cornflour in the dirty area to dry the dirt, and another brushing to remove the dirt. Although this is a process that may take time, it is the most appropriate process for them.
